To My Girls
For many of us, some of the most special people in our lives are Women. Mothers, sisters, girlfriends, wives and daughters. When I think of the important women in my own life, I think about what I can do to make their lives a little better, for most of them the answer seems pretty clear.
For my mother, who has done a stand-up job of raising her two children (even if I do say so myself), I gift relief from the heat of life, a cooling companion to ease the hot flushes that ambush her day. A little comfort for the woman who always put ours first.
To my long distance partner, the light of my life whom I wish I could be there for always but is separated by an ocean, I give myself in a hug, a substitute for when I cannot be there to hold her tight. I gift her the knowledge I am with her in spirit, giving her my strength and supporting her in person when I cannot be there physically.
To my niece, I give the gift of stress relief, a pressure in a hug to alleviate the pressure of life. School is supposed to be some of the best time of our lives, but it can also be tough. Constant judgment by peers, social pressure and stress from exams and homework.
To my daughter, I give the gift of brave nights and peaceful sleep a soft companion to help her settle in her own bed, feeling safe, calm, and wrapped in comfort even when I’m not beside her.
And after all this thoughtful planning, after imagining each unique need, each precious person, each heartfelt gift, I realised that the perfect present for every one of them was the same:
A McCuddles weighted cuddly toy.
A hug they can keep. Comfort they can hold. A little piece of love from me, wrapped in softness, for every woman who means the world to me.
